LOVE, SIMON

LOVE, SIMON

Warning: what you’re about to read includes spoilers, so if you haven’t watched the movie or read the book, do not read this!

Yeah, you probably think that Love, Simon is just another boring teenage movie, but no, it’s not. I mean, of course it’s about teenagers, but usually teenage movies portray a girl/boy that falls in love with a person of the opposite gender. Not this movie.

Simon is a normal teenager with a normal teenage life, but he has a huge secret. As the new school year begins, a boy in Simon’s High School comes out as gay anonymously on the internet. He calls himself Blue. Simon and Blue start texting, both without revealing their true identities to each other.

During the first semester Simon tries to discover who Blue is, but his plans are ruined by a guy named Martin. Martin blackmails Simon and threatens him that he will tell the school he’s gay if he doesn’t help him win over a new girl in school that is also Simon’s best friend. Simon is afraid of people knowing what his sexual identity is, because –  what if they don’t accept him? Eventually he helps Martin with Abby, the new girl, but everyone knows how awkward Martin is, so Abby doesn’t like him. Martin is humiliated in front of the whole school so he outs Simon.

Simon’s friends ditch him, but Simon stays strong and comes out to his family. He asks Blue (over the internet of course) to join him on the ferris wheel at the carnival. Blue comes and everyone is happy for their happy ending.

*LOL, did you really think i’ll spoil who Blue is? No way LMAO :D*
